We recommend that customers wash their pairs with cold water and dry on the lowest, most delicate setting. These settings use less energy (better for the planet), but also help the stretch materials last longer when they’re not exposed to extreme heat.

We currently offer three sizes, small, medium, and large. Small fits US Women’s shoe sizes 5-9 and US Men’s shoe sizes 4-8. Medium fits US Women’s shoe sizes 9-14 and US Men’s shoe sizes 8-13. Large fits US Women’s shoe sizes 14+ and US Men’s shoe sizes 13+.

Organic cotton is not treated, so on low heat your socks will shrink a bit during the first wash. This is normal! After the first wash, they won’t shrink any more.

The ingredients in our socks are always changing to meet the most current regulations set by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification. Every style will differ in ingredient percentages depending on the design and when they are made. You can always reference the product page’s “Details & Care” section or the back of our tag packaging for your exact pair’s composition.

We donate $1 per pair, $1 per candle, $3 per t-shirt, and $5 per sweatshirt to our nonprofit partner.

Our black string on single-pair packaging does a little more than replace plastic waste. It also makes it easy to open! Instead of cutting it, pull the loose end of the string, and it will release the pair from the packaging easily.

Orders are processed within 1-2 business days and take 3-5 business days for shipping within the US. Typically east coast orders will take about 3 days to ship, while west coast orders may take up to 5 days. If an item is backordered or pre-ordered, those items will be shipped separately from the rest of your order when they come back in stock. International orders and orders to Hawaii and Alaska take 7-10 days for shipping.

For US customers, orders ship from our warehouse in Pittston, PA. For Australia and New Zealand customers, orders ship from our warehouse in Sydney, Australia. Other international orders will be shipped from whatever warehouse is closest to your location.

We currently ship globally. Shipping rates are calculated based on order weight and destination.

Once goods are committed and sold, Conscious Step is not beholden to returns on any items that the customer could not sell further.

We stand behind our socks. Defective merchandise will always be accepted as long as they are returned within 7 days of receipt and the damage was not a result of unpacking the product. The items will either be replaced at no cost or full credit will be issued.

Our socks are manufactured in India, the largest producer of organic cotton as of 2023.

Our t-shirts and sweatshirts are manufactured in India with locally grown and harvested organic cotton. India is the world’s largest producer of organic cotton as of 2023.

Our candles are handmade in small batches in the U.S. with locally harvested beeswax, coconut oil, and phthalate-free fragrance.

Our factory is constantly vetted by independent groups and regularly undergoes social and factory audits from recognized groups such as WRAP and SEDEX. They are certified by OEKO-TEX Certified, Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and Fairtrade International. Our representatives based in India visit regularly, and our U.S. team visits annually. Our most recent visit was in January 2025.

We use organic, Fairtrade Certified cotton to make our socks. It’s Vegan Certified and is not treated with herbicides or pesticides. The paper used in our tags and boxes is made from recycled materials and is recyclable. The inks used are soy-based as well. We’re currently in the process of reducing all unnecessary packaging and using the most sustainable options when possible.

Our partners were chosen in line with the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. These provide a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and planet. We can all take a step towards building a better world.
